Week 38 – No Escape

The hallway stretched before him and his hands swam in the open space, before both they and his knees hit the carpet hard.
His back was already beginning to feel bruised from the push when a foot met the same mark, sending legs and arms sprawling and his chin knocked down.
He let out a cry – too much, a clear sign of weakness. As he tried to crawl forward, he felt another blow and toppled forward like a broken doll.
Angry words were being thrown behind him, and again he tried to crawl from it. No matter how far he inched away though, he wouldn’t be leaving home any time soon.
