This year I have three new karate belts, each with their own special meaning.
Black and White
My first belt of the year was received on 5 July after completing a training programme to become an instructor. As sempai, I assist with teaching a weekly class, with my main focus being on new students.
Pink
The Pink Belt Campaign runs throughout November to raise funds for the Cancer Society of New Zealand. I received my belt on Tuesday 24 October and it is being worn at each class until 30 November to show my support.
Brown
My focus for 2023 was to reach the rank of 3rd kyu / brown belt. This was achieved on Thursday 26 October.
