Full disclosure: I volunteered at the Zoo for about a year (2018-2019).

You’re never too old to visit the Zoo. This is a great place for a day trip by yourself (with a camera) or for a family outing.

The otters greet you on arrival and then you can choose which way to go. I like a heading towards the Gibbons and following the path to the Korora (Little Blue Penguins) until you get to the Sun Bear, then heading back down the path to the Lemur, around to the Red Pandas, up to the Meerkats and through the Neighbours area (Australian animals) with a return via the Giraffes and Lions.

There are lots of talks throughout the day – I really like the Korora one, but they’re all good to hear. And if you are keen for something a little extra, there are Close Encounters available – book in advance.
